Although Malta is a tiny island, it has an extensive amount of history. The Maltese people are very celebratory and hold many festivals and carnivals annually. In order to honour local patron saints, they throw up to 75 village feasts between the months June and September which include the involvement of musical performances, fireworks and a parade. These are normally very religious affairs and are treated with the upmost respect.
